Looking For Some New Materials
Definitely looking for some new materials to work with. The above photo I found on Flickr from KalleBoo captures a few of the things I am looking for.
- Ikea Galant Desk – I’ve always been stuck with large, clunky desks with no leg room.
- Apple Cinema Display – A large monitor with accurate color representation would be nice.
- MacBook Pro - Recently, I sold one of these for Las Vegas money but also because I was tired of how fast Apple was updating their lines. I told myself to get what I could for it and to jump in again down the line.
- Aeron Chair - This isn’t pictured, but if I’m going to sit all day long, an Aeron Chair would probably be best for me. I wouldn’t purchase one of these without giving it a good, long test drive, though.
Michael Jackson
I remember the moment in 2005. It was lunchtime and I jumped up from my desk at work, put my phone on pause, and headed to the break room where there was a small TV. As I made it over, my supervisor walked out disgusted, and at that moment I knew. Michael Jackson was found innocent by the jury.
I went back to my desk, unpaused my phone, and fielded 411 calls. Relieved. I loved Michael Jackson.
Ten years earlier, I heard my sister cry while listening to “You Are Not Alone“. It was the first time I saw the effects of one person’s existence towards someone else. And Michael’s voice helped bring that feeling out. It’s to this day one of my favorite songs.
Michael Jackson’s music brings me back to simpler times. His message gives me hope. His smile made me feel like there were good people in this world.
I’m really going to miss Michael Jackson.
Dinkstrong! Dinkstrong!
Here’s a blog I will be following: Dinkstrong. What is it? Well, it’s about a girl named Danielle (nickname: Dink) who has Hodgkins Lymphoma. I’ve ‘known’ Danielle through the TonyandPals.com messageboard for years and years. I’ve seen her posts about music, opinions and life in general and finally met her about a year ago at a party in Watertown. It seemed like we talked all night as if we had so much catching up to to, even though we don’t know each other at all. Today, I’ve found myself thinking of her a lot. I’ve never known anyone (who was this young) who has had cancer believe it or not.
Anyways, she’s started a blog about her experiences to come. I will definitely be reading as will many others. Will you?
Books I’m currently reading
Inspired by Lokesh’s book post, here is what I’m currently reading:

I: The Creation of a Serial Killer by Jack Olsen – The Happy Faced Killer, Keither Hunter Jesperson. I dig this one a lot.
Sellevision by Augusten Burroughs – Fictional story about a home shopping network and its employees. Haven’t gotten too far in this one yet.
ppk on JavaScript by Peter-Paul Koch – Think Designing With Web Standards but for JavaScript.
Codin’ For the Web by Charles Wyke-Smith – Get started building dynamic websites with PHP
New blog, new year.
So here I am in May ’08 with a new blog. I just had my 24th birthday and that was pretty great.
I’m still working as a web developer (mainly front-end) but looking to learn more elements of the back-end and also SEO/SEM. I’ve been reading a few blogs such as HubSpot’s Marketing Blog, Courtney Tuttle’s Internet Marketing blog, Uncle Peppers and random others.
I really dig Twitter and make sure to throw a message up every so often. Make sure you follow me.
Currently, I am reading Codin’ For the Web by Charles Wyke-Smith – I recommend for novices out there.
